In keeping with our mission, MPA priorities in 2026 focus on safety–for those traveling by foot, bicycle, or vehicle–and on the quality of life for our neighbors. To advance these objectives, we will:
- Partner with Florida Department of Public Transportation (FDOT) and other civic stakeholders to optimize safety and minimize unintended consequences of the FDOT SUN Trail, a shared use pedestrian & bicycle path planned for construction in 2028. We will focus specifically on the portion of the SUN Trail planned from Red Cox Drive to Pope Road.
- Partner with St. Johns County officials and FDOT to assess and manage safety threats at the intersection of Old Beach Rd & Old A1A.
- Monitor the status of Florida’s e-bike legislation and support local enforcement activities.
- Strengthen our sound relationship with Anastasia State Park officials and the Friends of Anastasia State Park. We will focus on providing reliable access through the San Juan gate and helping park officials quickly resolve any entry barriers.
- Build community, growing and sustaining Menendez Park Association as new families become neighbors.
