We are very fortunate to live in our neighborhood with ready access to Anastasia State Park and its miles of beach, nature and outdoor activities. We know that it is a great privilege to be able to use the San Juan gate for accessing the park which neighbors have enjoyed for many years. It’s a wonderful resource.

Over the years, access to the park has changed. For many years, San Juan Street just continued into the park; there was no fence or gate. Later a fence was erected and even later a gate to the park was added. For many years now, neighborhood access to the park has been possible with the purchase of a State Park pass. It is understandable that with state revenue covering only 10% of Anastasia State Park’s operating budget and entry fees supporting 90% of operations, why there is now a greater emphasis on following the rules established for using the park. The Park Service also uses appropriate park entry to help ensure public safety.
The following image is of the San Juan gate. Most people in the neighborhood are familiar with this and many use it on a daily basis.

Next is an image of the rules posted at the entry to the San Juan gate. Our adherence to these rules will help ensure continuing access through this gate.
